MATIJA DEDIĆ PLAYS GIBONNI AND ARSEN

Immerse yourself in a unique and intimate musical experience as the leading Croatian jazz pianist, Matija Dedić, performs his own arrangements of songs by Zlatan Stipišić Gibonni and Arsen Dedić in the historic setting of the old St. Jerome's church. This is a rare opportunity to witness some of the most popular Croatian melodies presented in a new, inventive form.

Matija Dedić, jazz pianist and composer, is one of the most well-known Croatian jazz musicians. He inherited his love of music from his parents, both renowned musicians—father Arsen Dedić and mother Gabi Novak. He graduated in jazz in 1997 from the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz (Harald Neuwirth). Since 1994, he has been a member of the Boilers Quartet, and in the late 1990s, he founded his ensemble (Matija Dedić Trio). He is known for his collaborations with famous jazz musicians (Boško Petrović, Darko Jurković, Tamara Obrovac, Ladislav Fidri, Buster Williams, Jeff Ballard, Lenny White, Larry Grenadier, Antonio Sanchez, Scott Colley, Kendrick Scott, Vicente Archer, Mark Murphy, Ignacio Berroa…) as well as with the most prominent Croatian musicians of other genres. He has performed worldwide, and in 2002, he was a finalist in the young jazz pianists competition at the Montreux Jazz Festival. His compositions have been released on albums such as Octopussy (1998), Solo/Part 1 (2000), Sentiana (2012), Ligherian Rhapsody (2015), and Dedicated (2017), among others, and his arrangements of works by other authors on albums like Tempera (2004; Zlatan Stipišić - Gibonni), Kontesa (2010; Dora Pejačević), Matija Plays Arsen (2015; Arsen Dedić).
