MARIN LIMIĆ - PIANO

"Limić's broad reach on the keyboard was confident, but above all refined, full of suppleness and grace, yet powerful and impressive precisely because of the sensitivity displayed... His posture at the piano reveals modesty and dedication to the music he plays without a trace of any external affectation, and his mental immersion in the musical essence is thereby deeper, more sincere, and more convincing." – Branimir Pofuk

Marin Limić is a pianist, composer, and teacher from Klis, Croatia, now based in Berlin, Germany.

Marin Limić's musical journey began at the Josip Hatze Music School in Split, where he honed his skills under the tutelage of the esteemed Mrs Jadranka Garin. His talent was recognized early on, as he won the first prize in piano at the Croatian National Competition for Students in 2003. This was a testament to his dedication and marked the beginning of a promising career. In 2010, he graduated from the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne, a significant milestone in his musical education.

Limić's repertoire includes the works of classical composers, as well as his compositions and piano arrangements. In 2016, he received an award from the Croatian Ministry of Culture for his piano composition Tokata, op. 33. Marin has held numerous solo concerts and has performed under the direction of famous conductors such as P. Dešpalj, M. Tarbuk, and I. Lipanović. He has performed at the Croatian Music Institute several times, with the performances recorded by Croatian radio. He also played in the Rector's Palace in Dubrovnik, accompanied by the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra. Highlights of his international performances include recitals at the International Manifestations Mostar Spring (Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2012); Don Branko's Music Days (Montenegro, 2013); and the recital in the castle Brandys nad Labem (Czech Republic, 2014).

In 2015, his music score and CD Skladbe za klavir were published, and he toured the works around Croatia. In 2016, he also toured a recital named Koncert zaboravljenih melodija, in which he showcased rarely or never-played compositions by various composers. In 2018, Cantus released his second CD, Klarin Film, which he recorded with other musicians and artists.

Marin won the Künstlerstipendium for Land Nordrhein-Westfalen in 2020, recording renditions of classical and his new compositions. He performed in Berlin's French Cathedral in 2022. He also received a Deutscher Musikrat's "NeuStart Kultur" scholarship in 2023, in which he gave three concerts emphasizing his compositions. In 2024, he visited the People's Republic of China for a 20-day tour, giving 11 concerts in various cities. In August this year, he will give his first solo recital at the Split Summer Festival.
